A Wellness & Adventure-Filled Trip to Bali: Our Stay in Ubud
When we planned our Bali adventure, we knew we wanted to experience the perfect mix of wellness, culture, and a little adventure. We started our journey in Ubud, the heart of Bali, and it quickly became one of the highlights of our trip.
Where We Stayed: COMO Ubud
We checked into COMO Ubud, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The property itself feels like a sanctuary, surrounded by lush greenery, peaceful rice fields, and tranquil energy that makes you instantly exhale.
The food was a standout here, with breakfast being our favorite part of the day. From homemade coconut yogurt to fresh tropical jams and seasonal fruit, every bite was nourishing and beautifully presented. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home; by the time we left, it truly felt like we were saying goodbye to friends.
Travel tip: COMO Ubud offers a complimentary guided walking tour that departs from the property and takes you through nearby rice fields. It’s a gentle way to move your body, soak in the natural beauty, and connect with local culture, all before lunch.
Things to Do in Ubud
Ubud is often called the cultural and spiritual hub of Bali, and it’s easy to see why. Here’s what we loved most during our stay:
Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
Visiting the Monkey Sanctuary was an unforgettable experience. You can stroll among ancient temples while playful monkeys roam freely around you. Just keep a close eye on your sunglasses and snacks!Waterfalls & Countryside Views
We visited two of Ubud’s most popular waterfalls, where the scenery was just as refreshing as the cool water. Combine this with a countryside lunch and you’ll have a perfect day trip that balances adventure with relaxation.Cretya Ubud Day Club
One of the trendiest spots we visited was Cretya Day Club. Perched above rice terraces, this chic pool club is the perfect place to spend an afternoon. Between the infinity pools, cocktails, and views, it’s Bali luxury at its finest.Exploring Ubud Town
Beyond the big attractions, the town of Ubud itself is charming. Wander through its boutique shops, artisan markets, and cozy cafés. There’s always something to discover, from handmade crafts to organic smoothie bowls.
Practical Tips for Visiting Ubud
Plan for Traffic: Bali is beautiful, but traffic can be intense. Narrow, winding mountain roads and congestion mean that getting from one spot to another can take much longer than expected, sometimes hours. Build extra time into your itinerary so you don’t feel rushed.
Dogs in Ubud: You’ll notice many dogs, including some strays, along the narrow streets. Most are sweet, one even followed us back to our hotel! Just be mindful when driving or on scooters, as they often wander into the road
Why Ubud Should Be On Your Bali Itinerary
If you’re planning a trip to Bali, make sure to spend a few days in Ubud. It offers the perfect blend of wellness (think yoga studios and spa retreats), adventure (rice field hikes, waterfalls, monkey encounters), and cultural immersion. Whether you’re looking to recharge your body, explore nature, or enjoy Bali’s vibrant social scene, Ubud delivers.
